Before every novice aquarist that decided to save on diving and make your home a magical underwater world, the question is: marine aquarium or freshwater. On the one hand, freshwater aquarium is a simple and inexpensive maintenance, to keep it can not only fish, but also snails and even freshwater shrimp. However, Maritime aquarium at first sight striking in its beauty: fabulous fish and exotic corals and other creatures of the sea – to resist it is impossible. However, both of these aquariums have their advantages and disadvantages.
First, when making your choice, keep in mind that having a saltwater aquarium in your home costs 3-4 times more expensive. Continue reading
The archipelago of Raja Ampat in West Papua – the heart of the “coral triangle”, the epicenter of the coral growth in the oceans. It is from these places the majority of coral species of the planet, ocean currents carry their eggs throughout the Pacific Ocean, creating new coral populations in tropical waters with suitable conditions. 75% percent of the total number of coral species on the planet occur here. It is not surprising that the underwater gardens of Raja Ampat is perhaps best seen in my diving career. Their preservation in their original form contributes to the lack of advanced civilization in the nearby regions of West Papua still is home to some of the most traditional cultures, the activity of which does not cause much harm to the environment. The tropical waters of Raja Ampat support the greatest species diversity in the oceans – more than 4,000 species of fish and marine animals, including unique species of macro-world and the largest fish on the planet – whale sharks (meet with which here, however, is very difficult). To reach the archipelago you can Continue reading
Today discovered and described about 30 thousand species of fish . Some of them can boast of such unusual appearance that it is hard to believe that it is really fish. Some other representatives of these aquatic vertebrates are so rare that they know very little.
The most unusual and rare fishes are often found at great depths (sometimes 300-500 meters under water) and never rise close to the surface. Underwater world conceals many mysteries, many of which have yet to be disclosed .
Blind fish, rock-climbing
Gross sticky lower surface of its large fins allows the fish to climb slippery rocks and held them in conditions of fast currents and even scrambling under waterfalls !
Catfish that lives without water
Donnadoobie from the group of sea devils have a very long lure . which can be up to 10 times longer than the body of the fish. Interestingly, all these creatures swim upside down . but so far none of the scientists really can’t say why. Continue reading
